Denver weather: Light snow Thursday around the city and cold overnight
Snow will fall for most of the day Thursday around metro Denver, with the southern and western suburbs seeing higher totals from the quick-moving storm.
Denver residents can expect snow today, mainly before 3 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. Today’s high is forecast to be near 30. Blustery, with a north wind 6 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
“Snow will fall over the mountains and across most of the plains this morning,” the NWS said. “An inch or two of snow is expected in Denver and the northern foothills and mountain valleys, with 2 to 4 inches in areas southwest, south, and southeast of Denver. The northeast plains will have less snow. North winds will increase this morning, with gusts up to 40 mph on the plains.”
Tonight it’ll be mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming clear, with a low around 10. North winds to blow between 5 to 9 mph become south southwest after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 15 mph.
Clearing skies for Friday and the weekend are forecast, but not much warming will occur as high temperatures stay in the upper 30s and lower 40s over the next few days.
