Shooting leaves woman dead in Lakewood

A woman was shot and killed in Lakewood on Sunday.

The Lakewood Police Department responded to a report of a shooting in the 1400 block of Kendall Street — about a block from Casa Bonita — Sunday, according to a news release from the department. 

Upon arrival, officers found a 26-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound. She was taken to a nearby hospital where she later died from her injuries. 

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the woman following investigations.

The department noted that it will not be releasing any other information due to the ongoing investigation and they released no suspect information.
