Wing Over the Rockies finds new CEO
The Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum announced last week it hired its new CEO and president. The new CEO Marcus A. Harshaw, Jr. began on Jan. 6.
Harshaw took over for retired U.S. Air Force Major General John L. Barry who ran the museum since 2017.
The new CEO has 20 years experience in operating museums across the U.S. from serving as the Associate Museum Director for Experiences at the Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh, Pa., and Vice President of Learning and Facilities at experiential learning museum Kaleideum in Winston-Salem, N.C.
“Marcus’ proven leadership in driving museum growth, creating exceptional visitor experiences, and building strong community partnerships makes him the ideal leader to shape Wings’ future,” said Charlie Johnson, Wings Over the Rockies board chairman, in a news release.
Under Harshaw’s leadership, the museum seeks to boost the visitor experience, add more educational programs and encourage more innovation at the institution’s locations in Lowry and Centennial.
“I’m excited to start at Wings and look forward to working with staff, members, volunteers and community partners,” Harshaw said. “My goal is to elevate the museum to new heights, sharing the future of aviation and space exploration.”
