Denver weather: Cooler Thursday as winter looks to return over the weekend
Cooler temperatures will be in place around Denver and the metro area on Thursday, with Friday warming back up ahead of potential snow over the weekend.
Denver residents can expect sunny skies, with a high near 55, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. South southeast winds to blow between 5 to 10 mph become north northeast in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 15 mph.
“Wind gusts up to 50 mph can be expected above timberline and on the east slopes of the Front Range above 8000 feet, mainly tonight,” the NWS said. “There may also be scattered light snow showers late tonight, mainly near the Wyoming border.”
Tonight will be mostly clear, with a low around 29. North winds to blow around 6 mph become light and variable.
Friday warms back up, but come Saturday heading into Sunday, snow is possible with a return to winter and colder temperatures next week.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 64. South southwest wind 6 to 9 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph.
Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 49. North northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming east in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 23 mph.
Sunday: A 20% chance of snow. Mostly sunny, with a high near 39.
Monday: A slight chance of snow. Mostly sunny, with a high near 36.
