Movie rundown for the weekend through Feb. 9: Becoming Led Zeppelin’ and more

OPENING

“Becoming Led Zeppelin” — (Documentary, PG-13, 121 minutes). Tells about each band member’s musical influences and careers before they released the band’s first two albums.

“Bring Them Down” — (Drama, R, 105 minutes). The rivalry between two farmers in rural west Ireland causes violent and devastating events that permanently alter both families.

“Heart Eyes” — (Horror, R, 97 minutes). As done in the past, the Heart Eyes Killer will be stalking and murdering romantic couples again this Valentine’s Day.

“IU Concert: The Winning” — (Concert, not rated, 134 minutes). The performance by IU and Uaena at the Seoul World Cup Stadium. Noon and 12:30 p.m.

“Love Hurts” — (Action, R, 83 minutes). After receiving a message from his past partner-in-crime that he left for dead, Marvin realizes he must confront his past and the history he thought he had buried forever.

“Macbeth” — (Special event, not rated, 114 minutes). Showing of “Macbeth” filmed live during its run at the Donmar Warehouse in London, staring David Tennant and Cush Jumbo.

“Paddington in Peru” Early Release — (Adventure, PG, 101 minutes). While in Peru visiting his Aunt Lucy at the Home for Retired Bears, Paddington and the Brown family end up on a thrilling adventure after a mystery takes them on an unexpected journey.

“Renner” — (Sci-Fi, not rated, 90 minutes). It’s too late to change anything after a computer genius invents an AI life coach to help him find love but soon realizes he programmed it as his manipulative mother by accident.

“Thandel” — (Action, not rated, 155 minutes). While on a routine fishing trip, a group of fishermen from Srikakulam accidentally drift into Pakistani waters.

ONGOING

“A Complete Unknown” — (Biography, R, 141 minutes). Grade: A-, Scott Mervis. An unknown 19-year-old Bob Dylan arrived in New York in 1961 with his guitar and revolutionary talent, on his path to changing the course of American music.

“Anora” — (Comedy, R, 139 minutes). Once news reaches Russia that Anora, a young sex worker from Brooklyn, marries the son of an oligarch, her parents travel to New York to get the marriage annulled.

“Brave the Dark” — (Drama, PG-13, 112 minutes). Grade: C, Katie Walsh. While living in a world of darkness because of torturous childhood memories, Nate ends up in jail. 

“The Brutalist” — (Drama, not rated, 215 minutes). An architect and his wife’s lives are changed when they go to Europe to rebuild their legacy and meet a wealthy and mysterious client.

“Companion” — (Thriller, R, 97 minutes). While on a weekend trip at a lakeside estate, the death of the billionaire owner causes a chain of events for Iris and her friends.

“Cowboy Bebop: The Movie” — (Anime, R, 115 minutes). The Bebop crew must find the terrorist culprit that released a deadly virus on the masses.

“Den of Thieves 2: Pantera” — (Action, R, 144 minutes). Grade: C, Katie Walsh. Big Nick is in Europe searching for Donnie, who is involved with diamond thieves and the Panther mafia.

“Detective Chinatown 1900” — (Action, not rated, 136 minutes). A young man travels to Bangkok after being rejected by the police academy and finds that he and a distant relative must solve a murder.

“Deva” — (Action, not rated, 156 minutes). While investigating a high-profile case, a police officer uncovers a web of betrayal and deceit.

“Dog Man” — (Adventure, PG, 89 minutes). Grade: B, Katie Walsh. Half dog and half man, Dog Man pursues a feline supervillain named Petey the Cat.

“Flight Risk” — (Action, R, 91 minutes). A pilot transporting an air marshal and a fugitive soon realizes that not everyone on board is who they seem to be.

“Green and Gold” — (Drama, not rated, 105 minutes). Grade: B, Mark Meszoros. With a struggling farmer’s granddaughter’s musical skill being the ticket to a new beginning for the family, the farmer wages all he has on a championship bet.

“I’m Still Here” — (Drama, PG-13, 136 minutes). After her husband is captured by a military regime in 1964 in Brazil, a mother must reinvent herself after her family’s life is shattered.

“Kraven the Hunter” — (Action, R, 127 minutes). Grade: C, Katie Walsh. Kraven’s relationship with his ruthless father drives him down a path of vengeance, making him want to be the best and most feared hunter in the world.

“Love Me” — (Drama, R, 92 minutes). Grade: C-, Katie Walsh. After the end of human civilization, a satellite and a buoy meet online and fall in love.

“Moana 2” — (Adventure, PG, 100 minutes). Grade: B, Katie Walsh. After Moana receives an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, she journeys to the far seas of Oceania and finds herself on an adventure unlike any adventure she has ever been on before.

“Mufasa: The Lion King” — (Action, PG, 120 minutes). Grade: B, Katie Walsh. Mufasa, an orphaned cub, and Taka, an heir to a royal bloodline, join a group of misfits while searching for their destiny.

“One of Them Days” — (Comedy, R, 119 minutes). Grade: B-, Katie Walsh. After roommates Alyssa and Dreux discover that Alyssa’s boyfriend has spent all the rent money, they have to go to extremes to keep from getting evicted.

“Presence” — (Horror, R, 85 minutes). Grade: B-, Katie Walsh. After a family moves into a new house in the suburbs, they sense they are not alone.

“September 5” — (Drama, R, 96 minutes). Grade: B, Katie Walsh. Members of an American broadcasting crew find themselves covering the hostage crisis of Israeli athletes during the 1972 Munich Olympics.

“Sonic the Hedgehog 3” — (Action, PG, 110 minutes). Grade: B-, Katie Walsh. Sonic, Knuckles and Tails must seek out an unlikely alliance to help defeat Shadow, a villain with powers stronger than any they have faced in the past.

“The Substance” — (Horror, R, 140 minutes). Grade: A, Katie Walsh. A celebrity who is past her prime decides to try a black-market drug that will temporarily make her a younger, better version of herself.

“Valiant One” — (Thriller, R, 102 minutes). When their helicopter crashes in North Korea, the survivors must find a way out without any U.S. military support.

“Wicked” — (Fairy Tale, PG, 160 minutes). Grade: B-, Katie Walsh. Elphaba’s and Glinda’s friendship reaches a crossroads after an encounter with the Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

“Wolf Man” — (Suspense, R, 103 minutes). Grade: B-, Michael Phillips. While at a remote farmhouse, a family is attacked by an unseen animal and during the night the father transforms into something unrecognizable.
