DENVER — Skeletal remains that were found near Cherry Creek in October have been identified as an Indigenous woman who was last seen in May.
The Denver Medical Examiner’s Office said on Friday that the remains had been found near Cherry Creek Drive South and South Holly Street about 3 p.m. Oct. 28. The Medical Examiner’s Office said the remains were of 56-year-old Marcie Fairchild.
9NEWS spoke with Fairchild’s daughter, Somm’r Fairchild, in December as the family held onto hope of finding her alive.
“She would have her times where she would go and we might not see her every day or every week, but we would be in contact with her and we would know how to reach her,” Somm’r Fairchild said in December.
Marcie Fairchild was last seen walking near Parker Road and Peoria Street in Aurora in late May.
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation issued a Missing Indigenous Person Alert for Marcie in September.
