Kyle Westmoreland has put himself in position to return to the PGA Tour.
The Air Force Academy graduate earned his first Korn Ferry Tour title Sunday at the Astara Golf Championship, carding a final-round, 1-under 70 at Country Club de Bogota-Lagos, one stroke clear of Pierceson Coody and Christo Lamprecht.
Westmoreland, who moved up to No. 3 on the Korn Ferry Tour ranking, vaulted up the leaderboard with a 61 on Saturday. This was the first PGA Tour-sanctioned victory for Westmoreland. He held full-time PGA Tour status in 2022-23 but lost his card after struggling in his rookie season.
The 33-year-old began the day with a two-shot lead but made a double bogey on the first hole to drop back into a tie for the lead. It was the start of a topsy-turvy round that included seven birdies, four bogeys and that first-hole blunder.
Westmoreland came up big when it mattered with three straight birdies on Nos. 14-16. He closed with a bogey but held on for his first win in 60 Korn Ferry starts.
