One person injured, cited for careless driving after icy rollover crash in north Colorado Springs

One person was injured and cited for careless driving following a rollover crash on the interstate early Wednesday morning, according to Colorado Springs police.

Colorado Springs police and fire crews responded at about 4:30 a.m. to the crash, on Interstate 25 and Centennial Boulevard, according to a police blotter entry.

Officers and firefighters arrived to find one person trapped in an overturned vehicle in the middle of the northbound lanes.

Fire crews extricated the person, who  suffered minor injuries, according to a post by the Colorado Springs Fire Department’s X account.

Police say they closed Interstate 25 northbound lanes and diverted traffic to Centennial Boulevard for a little less than an hour while fire crews worked.

Police believe the driver was speeding in icy road conditions, which caused the crash. The driver was cited for careless driving.
