Presidents Day closures around metro Denver

Many metro Denver area workers will enjoy a long holiday weekend thanks to Presidents Day and the celebration of George Washington’s birthday.

Most government offices and city agencies in the state will be shut down on Monday in observation of Presidents Day, a federal holiday. There will be no mail services that day, either.

There will be a plethora of retail and automotive sales throughout the country though for those who enjoy shopping.

With that, most businesses will remain open through the holiday, though some may be operating with a limited schedule or complete closures. Potential customers should check out a business’ specific website before traveling to it.

Most Denver offices, facilities and agencies will close Monday in observance of the President’s Day holiday.

Closures include all motor vehicle offices, workforce centers, City Council offices, the mayor’s office, the clerk and recorder’s office, the auditor’s office and all county and state-operated courts. Libraries and recreation centers will be closed as well.

The Office of the Medical Examiner, Denver Elections Division, Taxpayer Service Center and Wastewater Management Building will also close Monday, as well as the departments of building and zoning, transportation, and excise and licenses.

All 24-hour agencies — like emergency services and the Denver International Airport — will remain open with full operations on Presidents Day.

All other counties — like Arapahoe, Adams, Boulder, Jefferson and Douglas — will also close government buildings and agencies during the day.

Citizens can check county websites for specific closure information.

Street parking throughout the city of Denver will be free on Monday for the holiday. It will return to normal prices on Tuesday. Denver public transportation via the Regional Transportation District will also be operating on its holiday schedule.

All state parks, county parks, campgrounds and boat ramps will remain open through the holiday. All Colorado Parks and Wildlife offices will be closed, though.

Presidents Day marks the last federal holiday until Memorial Day on May 26.
