No. 6 DU Pioneers hockey beats Miami (Ohio) 5-2 to sweep two-game set

The No. 6-ranked Denver Pioneers used a balanced attack for the second straight night to net a 5-2 win over Miami (Ohio) on Saturday in Oxford, Ohio.
After winning 5-1 on Friday behind five different goal scores, the Pioneers (23-8-1, 12-7-1) did it again on Saturday on the road. This time they got goals from Aidan Thompson, Carter King, Jake Fischer, Kieran Cebrian and Zeev Buium in the easy win.
Eight different Pioneers had an assist, as well. Jack Devine led the way with two assists.
Freddie Halyk was in net for the Pioneers and made 21 saves on 23 shots. Hampus Rydqvist and Conner Hutchison had the goals for the Redhawks, who lost their 22nd game in a row.
The Pioneers move up to fourth place in the NCHC standings as they try to get home-ice advantage for the conference playoffs.
Denver will be back at Magness Arena next weekend. The Pioneers will face off with St. Cloud State with puck drop at 7 p.m. on Friday and 6 p.m. on Saturday.
