Passenger killed after car jumps curb, crashes into light pole in Aurora

A passenger was ejected and killed after a driver veered off the road and crashed into a light pole in southern Aurora early Sunday morning.
The single-vehicle crash happened just before 3 a.m. near Quincy Avenue and Richfield Street, according to an Aurora Police Department news release.
Investigators determined that a Kia K5 sedan was traveling east on Quincy Avenue when the driver, a 23-year-old woman, lost control, jumped a curb, and struck a light pole, police said.
A 27-year-old male passenger was ejected from the vehicle and died from his injuries, according to police. The driver was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
No arrests have been made, but police said charges are expected. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Quincy Avenue was closed for several hours but reopened at 6:25 a.m.
Sunday’s crash marks Aurora’s fifth traffic-related fatality of 2025.
