WATCH: President Donald Trump speaks to a joint session of Congress

President Donald Trump on Tuesday night will make his first address to a joint session of Congress since being reelected to a second, nonconsecutive term in November.

WATCH:

What time is the Trump speech to Congress?

Trump’s speech, which is set to begin at 9 p.m. Eastern, to the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate in the nation’s Capitol comes six weeks after his inauguration and as his administration works feverishly to remake the federal government by terminating scores of probationary employees, announcing plans to scale back or get rid of some agencies and warning of vast reductions in the federal workforce on the horizon.

What other topics might come up during Trump’s speech to Congress?

But it also comes at a time when Trump has been promising to enact widespread tariffs on imported goods, a move that economists and businesses − including those in Michigan’s auto industry − warn could scramble supply lines and force costs higher at a time when inflation is already high and consumer sentiment has been falling steeply.

Trump has argued repeatedly that tariffs will help government raise money while luring manufacturing back into the U.S. Meanwhile, the Republican president is likely to address his administration’s action to curb illegal immigration and remove migrants from the country and broker a deal with Russia to end the war in Ukraine, though the latter may be in doubt after a rare, public spat broke out in the Oval Office between Trump, Vice President JD Vance and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy erupted last Friday.

Where can you watch Trump’s speech to Congress?

Trump’s speech, and a Democratic response to be offered by U.S. Sen. Elissa Slotkin of Michigan to follow, will be carried on major cable stations including CNN, Fox News and MSNBC as well as on C-Span.

You also can watch it right here, using the video player below.

Local broadcast TV is expected to carry the speech as well, and it will be available online via the official White House site, USA Today, NPR, NewsNation and C-Span among other outlets.
