Denver weather: Light snow possible Friday, with a warming weekend ahead

Denver residents can expect a 40% chance of snow, mainly after 11 a.m., according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. Patchy fog will linger between 7 and 10 a.m., otherwise, mostly cloudy skies with a high near 36 are forecast.

North northeast winds to blow between 5 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

“Snow showers will occur mainly in the afternoon and evening today,” the NWS said. “Accumulation will be focused over the Front Range mountains and foothills, particularly the southern foothills. Additional snowfall of 2-5 inches is expected in those locations, while the majority of the plains will see less than half an inch of snow.”

Tonight expect a 50% chance of snow before 11 p.m. It’ll be cloudy, then gradually become partly cloudy with a low around 23. East northeast winds to blow between 5 to 8 mph become calm in the evening. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Saturday will be the coolest day of the weekend, with highs nearing 50, but Sunday temperatures will soar into the mid-60s.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 49. Calm wind becoming north 5 to 7 mph in the morning.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 64. Southwest wind around 6 mph becoming light and variable in the morning.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 70.

Tuesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 63.
