Movie rundown for the weekend through March 16: ‘Black Bag’ opens

OPENING

“The Actor” — (Drama, R). New York actor Paul Cole loses his memory after being beaten and left for dead in a small town in Ohio.

“Black Bag” — (Drama, R, 93 minutes). Intelligence agent Kathryn Woodhouse’s legendary agent husband must decide to be loyal to his country or his marriage after Kathryn is suspected of betraying her nation.

“Court – State Vs. A Nobody” — (Drama, not rated, 155 minutes). While representing a teenager who was wrongly accused of a serious crime, a defense attorney takes on prejudice and corruption in the justice system.

“The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie” — (Animation, PG, 91 minutes). Porky Pig and Daffy Duck are the only two who can help when Earth faces the threat of an alien invasion.

“The Last Supper” — (Drama, PG-13, 114 minutes). Reveals untold perspectives of those who walked beside Jesus Christ.

“The Metropolitan Opera: Fidelio” — (Opera, 185 minutes). A live broadcast of opera performed at The Metropolitan Opera.

“Novocaine” — (Action, R, 110 minutes). A man who cannot feel physical pain uses his rare condition in the fight to rescue the girl of his dreams who was kidnapped.

“October 8” — (Documentary, not rated, 100 minutes). Examines antisemitism on college campuses, social media and in the streets of America after the Hamas-led attack on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023.

“Opus” — (Drama, R, 103 minutes). An iconic pop star shows up after being missing for decades.

“The 4 Rascals (Bo Tu Bao Thu)” — (Comedy, not rated, 132 minutes). The 4 rascals try to solve a love triangle.

“Witch Watch: Watch Party” — (Anime, not rated, 88 minutes). Morihito tries to keep Nico safe, but he worries that her magic will get in the way.

ONGOING

“A Complete Unknown” — (Biography, R, 141 minutes). Grade: A-, Scott Mervis. An unknown 19-year-old Bob Dylan arrived in New York in 1961 with his guitar and revolutionary talent, on his path to changing the course of American music.

“AXCN Gundam Fest 2025: Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack” — (Anime, not rated, 124 minutes). Amuro Ray and Char Aznable settle their rivalry during the Second Neo Zeon War.

“Anora” — (Comedy, R, 139 minutes). Once news reaches Russia that Anora, a young sex worker from Brooklyn, marries the son of an oligarch, her parents travel to New York to get the marriage annulled.

“Captain America: Brave New World” — (Action, PG-13, 118 minutes). Grade: B-, Katie Walsh. When the new Captain America, Sam Wilson, becomes involved in an international incident, he must uncover the motive behind a nefarious global plan.

“Cleaner” — (Action, R, 96 minutes). After criminal activists take 300 hostages at a gala with the intent to commit mass murder as a statement to the world, an ex-soldier turned window cleaner tries to rescue the hostages.

“Companion” — (Thriller, R, 97 minutes). While on a weekend trip at a lakeside estate, the death of the billionaire owner causes a chain of events for Iris and her friends.

“Dog Man” — (Adventure, PG, 89 minutes). Grade: B, Katie Walsh. Half dog and half man, Dog Man pursues a feline supervillain named Petey the Cat.

“Heart Eyes” — (Horror, R, 97 minutes). Grade: B, Katie Walsh. As done in the past, the Heart Eyes Killer will be stalking and murdering romantic couples again this Valentine’s Day.

“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” — (Action, PG-13, 146 minutes). The Capitol targets Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark after they win the 74th Hunger Games causing a rebellion in the Districts of Panem.

“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1” — (Action, PG-13, 123 minutes). Katniss Everdeen, who is in District 13, fights to save a nation and Peeta.

“In the Lost Lands” — (Action, R, 101 minutes). Grade: C-, Katie Walsh. After being sent by the queen to the wilderness of the Lost Lands, a sorceress and her guide must outfight and outwit man and demon.

“Laaj Sharanam” — (Comedy, not rated, 159 minutes). Follows the diverse lives of people living in a rural community.

“Last Breath” — (Thriller, PG-13, 93 minutes). Grade: B, Katie Walsh. A true story about deep-sea divers who battle the elements to rescue a crew member trapped hundreds of feet below the ocean’s surface.

“Mickey 17” — (Action, R, 137 minutes). Grade: B, Katie Walsh. An expendable named Mickey 17 takes a dangerous journey to try to colonize an ice planet.

“Moana 2” — (Adventure, PG, 100 minutes). Grade: B, Katie Walsh. After Moana receives an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, she journeys to the far seas of Oceania and finds herself on an adventure unlike any adventure she has ever been on before.

“The Monkey” — (Horror, R, 98 minutes). Grade: B, Katie Walsh. When they were young, twin brothers Bill and Hal found their father’s old monkey toy in the attic, causing a series of deaths that tore the family apart. Now, 25 years later, the monkey is on a new killing spree.

“Mufasa: The Lion King” — (Action, PG, 120 minutes). Grade: B, Katie Walsh. Mufasa, an orphaned cub, and Taka, an heir to a royal bloodline, join a group of misfits while searching for their destiny.

“My Dead Friend Zoe” — (Comedy, R, 98 minutes). A female Afghanistan veteran is isolated from the world because of her relationship with her dead best friend from the Army.

“Night of the Zoopocalypse” — (Animation, PG, 91 minutes). After a meteor unleashes a virus that turns zoo animals into zombies, a wolf and mountain lion team up with other survivors to try to rescue the zoo and stop the virus from spreading.

“No Other Land” — (Documentary, not rated, 92 minutes). Basel Adra, a Palestinian activist has an unlikely alliance with a journalist from the other side while he films his country of Masafer Yatta being destroyed by Israel’s occupation.

“One of Them Days” — (Comedy, R, 119 minutes). Grade: B-, Katie Walsh. After roommates Alyssa and Dreux discover that Alyssa’s boyfriend has spent all the rent money, they have to go to extremes to keep from getting evicted.

“Paddington in Peru” — (Adventure, PG, 101 minutes). Grade: B-, Katie Walsh. While in Peru visiting his Aunt Lucy at the Home for Retired Bears, Paddington and the Brown family end up on a thrilling adventure after a mystery takes them on an unexpected journey.
