Rockies trade Nolan Jones to Guardians for Tyler Freeman
In a surprising move on Saturday, the Colorado Rockies decided to move on from outfielder Nolan Jones.
Jones, who finished fourth in Rookie of the Year voting in 2023, was traded to the Cleveland Guardians for infielder/outfielder Tyler Freeman.
In 2023, Jones saw 22 doubles, four triples, 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases in 106 games with the Rockies, but his numbers dropped in 2024 due to injuries and struggles at the plate. He played in just 79 games and hit .227 with three home runs.
Freeman has played five different positions for Cleveland during spring training. He was the starting center fielder for the Guardians in 2024 and had seven home runs, 32 RBI and 11 stolen bases in 118 games.
Jones heads back to Cleveland, where Colorado originally acquired him from in 2022.
