Denver issues RFP for AI vendors to transform city operations
Denver Mayor Mike Johnston’s new AI assistant may soon have company, as the city’s Department of Technology Services announced it is looking for vendors of artificial intelligence-based products and services to help transform city operations and improve resident experience.
The request for proposal (RFP) seeks to establish a pre-qualified bench of AI vendors able to deliver innovative, scalable, and secure AI solutions tailored to the city’s needs, according to a press statement released by the department on Thursday.
Aiming to build on Johnston’s 2024 city-led conference dedicated to leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) for social good.
“The ideas discussed at DenAI Summit last fall showcased the potential of AI to transform our city for the better,” Mayor Mike Johnston said. “We’re thrilled to continue that momentum and find partners who share our commitment to responsible AI development to create innovative solutions that serve Denverites every day.”
Since taking office, Johnston has advocated for ways to harness the power of AI to help local government streamline operations.
He recently inked a deal to test-drive Chief AI, an artificial intelligence-based system that touts its ability “to cut through administrative chaos” and drive clients toward goals.
According to a Johnston spokesperson, the new digital assistant streamlines decision-making by providing more context and data, such as when the mayor last met with an organization or necessary background information from a policy advisor.
“We are excited to partner with forward-thinking innovators to harness the power of AI and create a smarter, more responsive city,” said Suma Nallapati, Denver’s Chief Information Officer. “This RFP represents a significant step towards realizing our vision of leveraging technology to improve city performance and the quality of life for all Denver residents.”
Vendors will be evaluated on technical capabilities, innovation potential, compliance with security standards, scalability and cost efficiency, the statement said.
To be considered, vendors must submit a proposal online at https://www.bidnetdirect.com/private/solicitations/5199057276/abstract?utm_campaign=solicitation_supplier_courtesy&utm_source=system_vendor&utm_medium=email&utm_content=body-sol_abstract_link by April 15.
