A teacher at Fort Collins High School, who is now on administrative leave, is accused of exchanging explicit images with an underage girl in 2022.

Fort Collins Police Services said on Thursday they learned about the allegations in February of this year and began an investigation.

They found that teacher David Miles, 48, initiated conversation with the victim through a smartphone application and sent explicit pictures of himself to her. According to police, the two continued exchanging additional explicit images with each other.

At the time of the incident, in 2022, the victim was under 18. She is now an adult.

Ultimately, according to police, Miles met the victim at her residence and had sexual contact with her. The victim later recognized him as a teacher at Fort Collins High School.

Miles was arrested on Thursday and booked into the Larimer County jail on the following charges:

• Sexual assault
• Sexual exploitation of a child, access with intent sexually exploitative material
• Sexual exploitation of a child, permitting child engagement in explicit sexual conduct
