The Lakewood Police Department found two people dead Tuesday morning in an apparent murder-suicide.

Officers were sent to the Snowbird Apartments at 3336 S. Ammons St. — near US 285 and South Wadsworth Boulevard — around 12 p.m. Tuesday for a welfare check, according to a press release from the department.

Upon arrival, officers found a man dead from an apparent stab wound in the living room. A woman was found dead in another room following investigations of the home, police said.

Police did not specify how the woman died or whether the man or woman committed suicide, but initial investigations found that the incident was an apparent murder-suicide, police said.

The cause of death and identities of the two will be released by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office following autopsies and notification of family.

The two were said to have known each other and were related. No other information was shared due to the ongoing investigation.
