Movie rundown for the weekend through April 6: ‘A Minecraft Movie’ opens

OPENING

“A Minecraft Movie” — (Action, PG, 101 minutes). Four misfits are pulled into a mysterious and bizarre cubic land.

“The Amateur” Early Access Screening — (Action, PG-13, 123 minutes). After his wife is killed in a London terrorist attack, a CIA cryptographer is determined to find those responsible for her death.

“The Chosen: Last Supper Part 2” — (Drama, not rated, 172 minutes). Afraid of public outcry, Caiaphas wants to arrest Jesus quietly at night, but no one knows where to find him.

“The Encampments” — (Documentary, not rated, 82 minutes). To pressure the university to divest from the U.S. and Israeli weapons companies, Columbia University students created the Gaza Solidarity Encampment on the university’s lawn.

“Freaky Tales” — (Action, R, 106 minutes). Tells of the love of music, movies and people with four interconnected stories from Oakland, Calif., in 1987.

“The Friend” — (Drama, R, 120 minutes). Iris’s life is thrown into disarray after her friend and mentor dies and leaves her his Great Dane.

“Hell of a Summer” — (Dark Comedy, R, 88 minutes). A masked killer is murdering counselors at Camp Pineway.

“The Luckiest Man in America” — (Drama, R, 90 minutes). Based on a real story about an unemployed ice cream truck driver who appeared on the game show “Press Your Luck” in 1984 with a secret about how to win endless amounts of money.

“Seventeen Right Here World Tour: Live Viewing” — (Concert, not rated, 240 minutes). Watch Seventeen live in concert on the big screen.

ONGOING

“The 4 Rascals (Bo Tu Bao Thu)” — (Comedy, not rated, 132 minutes). The 4 rascals try to solve a love triangle.

“A Working Man” — (Action, R, 116 minutes). Grade: C, Katie Walsh. Levon Cade has left his past profession as a legendary figure in the world of counterterrorism and is living an everyday life working in construction. But when a local college student goes missing, he is asked to use his skills to find her.

“The Alto Knights” — (Drama, R, 120 minutes). Grade: B-, Katie Walsh. The tale of two Italian Americans, Vito Genovese and Frank Costello, who were rivals for control of a prominent crime family during the mid-20th century.

“Ash” — (Horror, R, 95 minutes). A terrifying chain of events takes place after a woman wakes up on another planet and finds her space station crew killed.

“The Assessment” — (Drama, R, 109 minutes). A couple’s seven-day assessment for the right to have a child in a world where parenthood is controlled turns into a psychological nightmare.

“Audrey’s Children” — (Biography, PG, 110 minutes). The story of Dr. Audrey Evans who in 1969 developed revolutionary treatments and purchased the first Ronald McDonald House.

“Black Bag” — (Drama, R, 93 minutes). Grade: A, Katie Walsh. Intelligence agent Kathryn Woodhouse’s legendary agent husband must decide to be loyal to his country or his marriage after Kathryn is suspected of betraying her nation.

“Bob Trevino Likes It” — (Comedy, PG-13, 102 minutes). After being abandoned by her narcissistic father, lonely 20-something Lily Trevino becomes friends with a stranger online with the same name as her father.

“Captain America: Brave New World” — (Action, PG-13, 118 minutes). Grade: B-, Katie Walsh. When the new Captain America, Sam Wilson, becomes involved in an international incident, he must uncover the motive behind a nefarious global plan.

“The Chosen: Last Supper Part 1” — (Drama, not rated, 130 minutes). When Jesus arrives in the holy city as king, he finds that his Father’s house of prayer has been turned into a corrupt market.

“The Corpse” — (Horror, not rated, 151 minutes). When Quang collects the body of his dead wife from a small village clinic, he finds she has been possessed by a malicious spirit.

“The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie” — (Animation, PG, 91 minutes). Porky Pig and Daffy Duck are the only two who can help when Earth faces the threat of an alien invasion.

“Death of a Unicorn” — (Comedy, R, 104 minutes). Grade: B-, Michael Phillips. While driving to a retreat, Elliott and his daughter Ridley hit a unicorn. When they bring the dead unicorn to the retreat, Elliott’s billionaire boss wants to exploit its curative powers.

“Disney’s Snow White” — (Musical, PG, 109 minutes). Grade: C, Katie Walsh. In this live-action adaptation of the 1937 film “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” a princess and seven dwarfs try to save the kingdom from her stepmother, the evil queen.

“Dog Man” — (Adventure, PG, 89 minutes). Grade: B, Katie Walsh. Half dog and half man, Dog Man pursues a feline supervillain named Petey the Cat.

“Heart Eyes” — (Horror, R, 97 minutes). Grade: B, Katie Walsh. As done in the past, the Heart Eyes Killer will be stalking and murdering romantic couples again this Valentine’s Day.

“L2: Empuraan” — (Action, not rated, 179 minutes). Stephen Nedumpally leads a double life as a leader of a powerful global crime syndicate named Khureshi Ab’raam.

“The Last Supper” — (Drama, PG-13, 114 minutes). Reveals untold perspectives of those who walked beside Jesus Christ.

“Locked” — (Horror, R, 95 minutes). After breaking into a luxury SUV, a thief discovers he is part of a psychological game of horror.

“Mickey 17” — (Action, R, 137 minutes). Grade: B, Katie Walsh. An expendable named Mickey 17 takes a dangerous journey to try to colonize an ice planet.

“My Love Will Make You Disappear” — (Comedy, not rated, 104 minutes). When a woman meets a troubled landlord she fears getting close to him because she believes that all her lovers disappear.

“Novocaine” — (Action, R, 110 minutes). Grade: C, Michael Phillips. A man who cannot feel physical pain uses his rare condition in the fight to rescue the girl of his dreams who was kidnapped.

“October 8” — (Documentary, not rated, 100 minutes). Examines antisemitism on college campuses, social media and in the streets of America after the Hamas-led attack on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023.

“Opus” — (Drama, R, 103 minutes). Grade: C-, Katie Walsh. An iconic pop star shows up after being missing for decades.

“Paddington in Peru” — (Adventure, PG, 101 minutes). Grade: B-, Katie Walsh. While in Peru visiting his Aunt Lucy at the Home for Retired Bears, Paddington and the Brown family end up on a thrilling adventure after a mystery takes them on an unexpected journey.

“The Penguin Lessons” — (Drama, PG-13, 110 minutes). Grade: B-, Katie Walsh. While teaching in Argentina, an Englishman’s life is changed after he adopts a penguin that was rescued from an oil-slicked beach.

“Princess Mononoke 4K” — (Action, PG-13, 133 minutes). While traveling to find a cure for a deadly curse he is afflicted with, Ashitaka Princess Mononoke.

“Screamboat” — (Horror, not rated, 101 minutes). Passengers on a New York City ferry try to survive an attack from a mischievous mouse named Steamboat Willie.

“Sikandar” — (Action, not rated, 140 minutes). A youth fights for the rights of the common people in a nation racked by injustice.

“The Woman in the Yard” — (Drama, PG-13, 85 minutes). A family wonders who a mysterious woman is after she shows up in their front yard to give them unsettling messages and chilling warnings.
