Larimer County Coroner identifies two men killed in Fort Collins mall shooting
The Larimer County Coroner’s office identified the two men killed in a shooting outside the Foothills Mall in Fort Collins Saturday evening.
The men, 37-year-old Ivan Arreguin Grimaldo of Greely and 27-year-old Luis Angel Arreguin of Westminster, were shot on a sidewalk outside the mall at about 5 p.m. Saturday, according to news releases from the coroner’s office and Fort Collins police. The men were transported to a local hospital, where they died of their injuries.
One suspect, a boy, was identified and arrested by police. His name was not released due to his status as a minor, police said.
Upon arriving to the scene, police issued a shelter in place order and suspended operations at the mall and the adjoining movie theater, police said in a release. The order was lifted later in the evening.
“Detectives worked through the night on this case and were able to make an arrest,” Assistant Chief Frank Barrett said in the release. “There is still much work to be done as we continue working on this case.”
Police noted in the release that this may be a gang-related crime and anticipate additional charges. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact Detective Matt Dean at (970) 221-6580 or the anonymous line at (970) 221-6868.
