A 16-year-old boy is being charged as an adult in connection with a double homicide this month at the Foothills Mall in Fort Collins.

Ivan Arreguin, 37, and Luis Angel Arreguin, 27, were both shot on April 5 outside the mall in the 200 block of East Foothills Parkway.

The 16-year-old suspect was arrested the next morning but was not initially named due to his age. On Monday, it was announced that prosecutors with the 8th Judicial District Attorney’s Office had charged Bryan Gallego as an adult.

He’s charged with the following:

• Two counts of first-degree murder
• Attempted first-degree murder
• Unlawfully carrying a concealed weapon
• Possession of a handgun by a juvenile

On the night of the shooting, operations at the mall and the adjoining movie theater were suspended while police worked their way through the mall to make sure it was secure. Operations went back to normal later that same night.
