Wheat Ridge police arrest suspect in connection to deadly stabbing on Sunday
Stabbing stemmed from a fight between two women around the 3900 block of Sheridan Blvd on Sunday.
Wheat Ridge police arrested a woman in connection to a fight-turned-deadly stabbing of another woman on Sunday afternoon.
At around 3:27 p.m., officers responded to a stabbing call near the 3900 block of Sheridan Blvd., according to a Wheat Ridge Police Department news release.
Authorities said witnesses told police two women engaged in a fight before one stabbed the other, adding the suspect then walked northbound on Sheridan.
The victim was transported to the hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Six minutes after the stabbing, officers found the suspect walking near West 41st Avenue. There, officers arrested Imani Tate, 47, who has a protection order prohibiting her from possessing a weapon, according to police.
Tate faces a second-degree murder charge paired with a protection order violation.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office will identify the victim pending notification of family and completion of an autopsy.
