Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard expressed her eagerness for “any opportunity to serve my country” when asked about her political future.

Gabbard ran for president in 2020 as a Democratic candidate but is now serving in a Republican administration. When she was in the House, Gabbard was a Democratic representative, but left the party, citing extreme “wokeness.”

“As I’ve listened to you over this hour, I’ve had one thought recur to me over and over and over, and it is: first female president. I look at you and I see it,” talk show host Megyn Kelly asked Gabbard on Sirius XM’s The Megyn Kelly Show Thursday. “I know they put you through the meat grinder the last time, but that was the other side. Now you’ve crossed over.”

“Thank you for not saying ‘transition,'” Gabbard interjected, prompting laughter between the women.

“But notwithstanding how rough that was when you ran for president the first time, have you ruled out ever doing it again? Could we potentially see a Tulsi 2028 try?” Kelly asked.

“I will never rule out any opportunity to serve my country,” Gabbard said. “My decisions in my life have always been made around how can I best be of service to God? How can I best be of service to our country? That is what has led me here. I’m grateful for this opportunity and I will continue to chase those opportunities where I can make the most positive impact and be of service.”

As this is Trump’s second term, he is constitutionally ineligible to run for a third term in 2028. However, it hasn’t stopped him from asking supporters if he should, which White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said is his way of ‘trolling’ the media. Another way would be to modify the 22nd amendment as Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) has already started the process of doing.

Gabbard endorsed Trump earlier this election cycle. However, in 2020, she endorsed Joe Biden upon dropping out of the race. Every senator from her former party opposed her appointment to head national intelligence.

She also reported that Trump’s removal of diversity, equity, and inclusion practices in her department saved roughly $20 million of taxpayer dollars. As director, she anticipates they will find more previously wasteful spending to put an end to.
