Man found dead with grenade in hand, Colorado Springs police say
A man holding a grenade was found dead at a residence in southeast Colorado Springs early Sunday, according to an online blotter entry.
Officers responded to a 9:40 a.m. call about a shooting at an apartment complex in the 2800 block of Circle Drive, police said. When they arrived, officers found a “deceased individual with an apparent gunshot injury.” The man was found with a grenade in his hand, according to the blotter entry.
Police evacuated the complex and called in explosives technicians to investigate. The bomb specialists found two inert grenades in the apartment. Both were determined to be nonhazardous, police said.
The deceased individual’s name was not released. Police did not say if the death was being investigated as a homicide.
