Denver police arrest driver in fatal crash of scooter rider

Driver suspected of impairment in crash that killed woman riding e-scooter at the 700 block of E. Colfax Ave. Sunday night.

Denver police arrested the driver who allegedly crashed his car and killed a woman riding an electric scooter Sunday night.

The crash ensued in the 700 block of East Colfax Avenue at around 8 p.m, according to a Denver Police Department news release.

Police said officers arrived to find a woman laying unresponsive and she was transported to a hospital, where she later died. The woman was riding a stand-up electric scooter at the time of the crash, according to the police.

On Monday afternoon, police announced the arrest of Kedrick Feldon, 35, who stayed on-scene after the crash.

Authorities said preliminary findings were that the woman merged into traffic with her scooter before the driver allegedly struck her. Police added Feldon is suspected of impairment while driving eastbound on Colfax before the crash.

Feldon faces a vehicular homicide charge, according to police. The Denver District Attorney’s Office will determine any charges.

The investigation remains ongoing.

The crash ended up closing Colfax in both directions between Washington and Clarkson streets for two hours on Sunday night, according to Denver police on social media platform X.
