West Alameda Avenue closure starts Wednesday
Metro area drivers should expect a full closure of West Alameda Avenue at Navajo Street as BNSF Railway conducts rail repairs beginning at 6 a.m. on Wednesday and reopening at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
The temporary closure will significantly impact east and west travel movements at this location, according to the Denver Department of Transportation and Infrastructure.
Drivers should avoid exiting at Interstate 25 at Alameda Avenue during this period to avoid congestion, expect limited ability to travel west on Alameda Avenue from northbound Santa Fe, and should choose an alternate route to travel west.
Alternative east-west routes north of Alameda include 6th and 8th avenues to the north, and Mississippi Avenue to the south.
