It is official, Winter X Games is returning to Aspen Snowmass’ Buttermilk Mountain for the 25th consecutive year, organizers of the skiing and snowboarding event announced Tuesday morning.

From front-flipping snowmobiles to record-landing jumps to perfect ‘100’ scores, a quarter-century of competitions have pushed multiple sports to new heights since Winter X landed in Aspen in 2002.

“For 25 years Aspen’s been where winter sports legends are made and boundaries are unlimited,” Jeremy Bloom, National Ski Hall of Fame inductee and CEO of X Games said. “We’re hyped to keep building on this legacy and bring X Games fans and athletes together for another unforgettable experience in 2026.”

Bloom became CEO of X Games in December 2024. As part of his role, Bloom has begun overseeing the expansion of the brand’s global presence, the introduction of new sports disciplines and the development of innovative ways for fans to engage with athletes and events.

Organizers said X Games Aspen 2026 will once again bring together the world’s top ski and snowboard athletes to compete in fan-favorite disciplines across men’s and women’s events.

“Spectators can expect jaw-dropping tricks, high-energy competition, and the return of live music,” organizers said.

At X Games Aspen 2025, Hiroto Ogiwara (Men’s Snowboard Big Air) and Miro Tabanelli (Men’s Ski Big Air) wowed the crowds by landing the first-ever 2340s (6.5 rotations) in competition in their respective disciplines, adding to the anticipation around what will be achieved at X Games Aspen 2026.

Previous highlights from X Games past include skier Simon Dumont’s double front flip Superman in 2009, snowboarder Shaun White’s X Games’ first perfect 100 score in the superpipe in 2012 to Elena Hight’s X Games’ first double backside alley-oop rodeo in 2013.

“We are pumped to have X Games return to Aspen for a 25th consecutive year,” John Rigney, SVP of Business Development at Aspen One said. “X Games is the gold standard of action sports, and years of exemplary partnership have defined our storied history together, as well as our mutual commitment to innovation in snow sports and excellence in elevating athletes who continue to break boundaries and raise the bar.”

Organizers said since first arriving in Aspen in 2002, X Games has grown into a global winter tradition rooted in the unique energy and terrain of Buttermilk Mountain.

“The X Games’ partnership with Aspen Snowmass has led to a spectacular celebration of snow sports, progression, world-class athletes, culture, music, and art that continues to draw audiences in from around the world,” the organizers said. “This 25th anniversary will honor the legacy of past competitions while spotlighting the innovation and excitement still to come.”
