A 77-year-old motorcycle rider died after crashing with a motorist Saturday night, according to the Westminster Police Department.

Police on Sunday continue to investigate what led to the fatal crash.

At around 7:40 p.m., officers responded to the intersection at 92nd Avenue and Perry Street. Upon arrival, police found a 77-year-old motorcyclist who was pronounced dead on-scene, according to the police.

Police said the motorcyclist crashed into a car operated by a 79-year-old.

Investigators found the driver and motorcyclist knew each other and were on the way home from an event at the time of the crash, according to the police.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Preliminary findings indicate alcohol could be a factor in what led to the crash, added police.

No charges have been filed as the crash is pending further investigation.

The Adams County Coroner’s Office will identify the 77-year-old victim.
