Hundreds of flights delayed at Denver International Airport over Memorial Day weekend

Hundreds of flights out of Denver International Airport were delayed Sunday, adding to more than 1,000 delays over Memorial Day weekend as thunderstorms continue to threaten Colorado.

As of 3:30 p.m. Sunday, 658 flights are delayed at DIA, while 10 flights have been canceled, according to flight tracker FlightAware.

Airlines reporting the most delays are Southwest at 226, United with 196 and SkyWest has 137.

According to Denver Gazette news partner 9NEWS, 912 delays and 54 cancellations notably impacted Southwest, United, and Delta Airlines on Saturday.

Typically, 1,700 to 2,000 flights go in and out of Denver daily.

Severe thunderstorms and rain showers continue threatening the metro Denver area Sunday and into Memorial Day on Monday.
