City technology officials say they have fixed a citywide network outage that took down most of the city’s website and many online service portals on Tuesday morning for close to six hours.

A spokesperson for the city’s Technology Services Division confirmed the issue was “resolved” late Tuesday evening and that experts are still investigating the cause would continue to monitor the system overnight and though Wednesday.

Shortly before 11 a.m. Tuesday, the city’s website, as well as several of its online services, went down after experiencing a “citywide network outage,” according to city officials.

“This outage is affecting multiple applications and technology systems, including some limited interruptions to public services,” said Denver Technology Services spokesperson Amanda Weston. “The city is working diligently to understand the cause of the outage as well as to restore services.”

Weston said impacted services include the Denver Police Department’s non-emergency line as well as the ability to process some payments in-person.

9-1-1 emergency services have not been affected by the outage at this time, the city posted on its Facebook page.

“Those seeking to report non-emergencies are urged to call 311, where their call will be answered and routed to DPD’s non-emergency line,” Weston said.

Parts of the city’s website came back online around 5:14 p.m., but with a message that some online systems were still experiencing “issues.”

Some city employees reported connectivity issues, including the ability to access applications and technology systems.
