The Denver Police Department and Metro Denver Crime Stoppers are asking the public for information related to a hit-and-run involving a motorcyclist and a scooterist Friday.
The incident, which occurred in the 2600 block of North Larimer Street, happened at 9:18 p.m. last Friday night, resulted in the scooterist suffering serious injuries, according to a Metro Denver Crime Stoppers bulletin received Friday afternoon. Tipsters can remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
After spending the evening at a Colorado Rockies game, Ana Robles and her partner Jeff Blitstein were riding scooters against traffic in the 2600 block of North Larimer Street when they swerved around an Uber stopped by the side of the road, Blitstein told 9News. It was then when the motorcyclist, who was doing a wheelie, hit Robles; she suffered a broken hip, femur and brain swelling and has been in a coma since the incident.
The motorcyclist fled the scene of the crash without stopping or leaving information, and their vehicle is described as a black motorcycle of an unknown make or model, the department said in the bulletin.
Blitstein started a GoFundMe page to help raise money for Robles’ medical care, per 9News. Over the course of three days, the fundraiser has already seen more than $10,000 in donations.
Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at (720) 913-7867 or at www.metrodenvercrimestoppers.com.
