Jeffco Sheriff’s Office seeking information on abandoned rabbits

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for information about 18 rabbits that were found abandoned in Golden on May 10.

The rabbits were found in cages near a dumpster at 15730 W. 6th Avenue Frontage Roa in Golden, according to a post on X from the office. The rabbits included two litters of babies, including six juveniles and seven younger babies, a few adult females and one adult male.

A spokesperson with the office said Friday afternoon that the post has already generated a handful of tips that the department is looking into. Additionally, they noted that, as of this morning, eight of the 18 rabbits that were found in the incident are still available for public adoption at the Foothills Animal Shelter in Golden.

Anyone who recognizes the rabbits or has a tip about what circumstances could have led to the incident is asked to call the office at (303) 271-5070.
