Denver police investigate deadly crash involving moped scooter

The Denver Police Department is investigating a fatal crash involving a moped scooter rider downtown Denver on Saturday night.
The crash occurred between a motorist and a moped scooter rider, resulting in the scooter rider’s death near 11th Avenue and Lincoln Street around 8:51 p.m., according to a Denver police spokesperson.

Police said a vehicle turned left in front of the scooter, resulting in the crash.
This is the first scooter-type fatality this year in Denver, according to police.
Police cited the driver with careless driving resulting in death, authorities said.
The crash remains under investigation.
