The Starting Lineup
Turn on the game!
Three must-see events this week:
1. U.S. Women’s Open, final round (Noon-5 p.m. Sunday, NBC) – No. 1-ranked Nelly Korda is in the hunt for the first time at a U.S. Women’s Open.
2. Stanley Cup final, Game 1: Florida at Edmonton (6 p.m. Wednesday, TNT) — At least Avs fans don’t have to watch Mikko Rantanen and the Dallas Stars try to win the title. The Oilers’ Connor McDavid could have the same number of Cups as Nathan MacKinnon after this series.
3. NBA Finals Game 1: TBD at Oklahoma City (6:30 p.m. Thursday, ABC) — But the bad news is Nuggets fans must to watch Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Alex Caruso, plenty of flops and the Thunder continue their quest.
Numbers game
Plus-2600 — The Broncos’ odds to win Super Bowl LX, according to FanDuel. Sean Payton and Bo Nix must handle heightened expectations.
Box office
New York Mets at Rockies, 7:40 p.m. Saturday — Could a trip to Coors Field get the Mets’ Juan Soto going? Score a $25 seat in the right-field box via the Gametime app.
They said it
“You want competition in that gym, and we’re going to have it, and guys are going to compete for it, and whoever earns it is going to play.”
—New Nuggets coach David Adelman on determining his rotation next season
The final word
It is rarely good when people lose their jobs, but it is a great sign the Nuggets will let Adelman pick his coaching staff. They say they don’t need a culture reset. But new voices are needed.
