Man arrested at JFK airport in connection with California fertility clinic bombing

A man suspected of aiding in a fatal car bombing outside a fertility clinic in Palm Springs, California, has been arrested at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City, authorities confirmed Tuesday.

Daniel Park, a resident of Washington state, was taken into custody on a California-issued warrant related to the May 17 bombing that left one person dead and four others injured. According to investigators, Park is suspected of providing materials used in the construction of the car bomb.

The explosion occurred last month in the parking lot outside the American Reproductive Centers, a prominent fertility clinic in Palm Springs. The blast killed the suspected perpetrator, 25-year-old Guy Edward Bartkus, who investigators believe was motivated by anti-natalist ideology — a belief system that opposes human reproduction.

The explosion injured four bystanders, but no clinic employees were harmed, and the facility’s laboratory, including stored eggs and embryos, was left intact.

Federal and state authorities continue to investigate the extent of Park’s involvement and whether additional people may have been connected to the attack.

Park will be making his initial court appearance Wednesday afternoon in Brooklyn.
