Colorado’s last open ski resort announces season extension into mid-June
The last resort open in Colorado, Arapahoe Basin, has extended their season to keep the lifts spinning a little bit longer.
While the spot was initially set to close on June 8, the announcement of that plan came with a promise from the Summit County ski area – to stay open longer if conditions permit.
Arapahoe Basin has held true to that promise – after a moist week in Colorado, conditions apparently will permit a later closing, with the resort now set to close on June 15.
Following Sunday, June 8, the resort will close for several days before reopening on Friday, June 13, staying open for Saturday and Sunday, as well. Winter operations will then come to close, with the resort soon to make the transition to cater to guests who visit for summer activities.
During the next two weekends, Black Mountain Express and Lenawee Express chair lifts will spin from 8:30 a.m. until 2 p.m., servicing the front side of the mountain. There will be no beginner terrain available, only intermediate and above.
It’s also worth noting that Lake Reveal has made its annual appearance, offering a pond skimming opportunity on a natural pool.
According to Arapahoe Basin, June 15 will be the last day of skiing and snowboarding at the spot this season, regardless of conditions present at that point – no other extension will occur.
