Denver drivers should expect the closure of the West 8th Avenue bridge between Tejon and Mariposa streets beginning at 7 a.m. Friday and reopening at the end of the day on Monday.
The full bridge closure will allow crews to complete the resurfacing work including mill, overlay and striping operations within a shorter period of time, minimizing extended impacts to the traveling public, the Denver Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) said in a statement.
During the closure, motorists traveling east on 8th Avenue will be routed north on Wyandot Street to West 13th Avenue, then east toward Mariposa Street and south back toward 8th Avenue.
DOTI asks that drivers traveling on I-25 use 6th Avenue or Colfax Avenue as alternate routes during the closure.
Access to businesses in the affected area will remain open.
When the resurfacing is done, the project will be complete and no further traffic impacts are expected.
