The Denver City Council will consider on Monday a resolution that would add $4.5 million and 12 months to an existing agreement between the city and The Salvation Army to operate and provide services at Crossroads, a 24/7, low-barrier emergency shelter, located in Council District 9. 

If approved, the additional funds would bring the total of the new contract to $19.3 million and establish a new end date of Dec. 31, 2025.

According to a May 21 presentation to the council’s Safety, Housing, Education and Homelessness Committee, the $4.5 million would come from the city’s general fund.

Elsewhere on the agenda, four liability claims involving the Denver Police Department, totaling more than $326,000, will come before council members for consideration.

The council will also review a proposed $9 million amendatory agreement between the City and County of Denver and Urban Drainage and Flood Control District, to design and construct drainage and flood control improvements for the Globeville Levee Project from 31st Street to East 50th Avenue, in Council District 9.

There will be two proclamations this week.

The first will honor Authentic Recovery Homes, a peer-led recovery residence founded by Kelly Mahana in 2020 with the goal of helping men regain their lives from addiction.

The second proclamation, “Affirming and Uplifting Black Pride Colorado and Black LGBTQIA+ Community Leaders,” will be issued during the 5:30 p.m. session.

There will be one required public hearing on Council Bill 25-0579, proposing changes to the zoning classification for 1060 S. Emporia St. in the Windsor neighborhood of Denver.

The Denver City Council will hold its regular meeting on Monday at 3:30 p.m., with the general public comment session scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
