44-year-old identified in drowning at Lake Pueblo State Park

Lake Pueblo State Park

The man who died in an apparent drowning at Lake Pueblo State Park Saturday was identified by the Pueblo County Coroner’s Office as a 44-year-old Centennial resident.

Daniel Strawn was swimming at Rock Creek Cove at the lake and died in an apparent drowning around 2:15 p.m. Park rangers responded to the scene and performed CPR on Strawn, who had been floating on the water unconscious, officials from Colorado Parks and Wildlife said in news release.

The Coroner’s Office ruled the death a result of a swimming accident.

Strawn is one of three people who have died in water-related incidents in the past two weeks. On May 30, a 28-year-old man went missing at Lake Pueblo for nearly 23 hours until his body was recovered. A kayaker capsized his boat and died Friday on the Arkansas River, near Buena Vista.
