Denver teacher accused of giving marijuana brownies to middle schoolers

A Denver middle school teacher is facing allegations that she gave marijuana-infused brownies to two boys who won a writing contest in her classroom last year.

The teacher, who 9News is not identifying at this time, taught language arts at Kepner Beacon Middle School. She faces two counts of misdemeanor child abuse after allegedly giving homemade brownies to two, 12-year-old boys on June 3, 2024.

A lawsuit filed on May 30 by the parents of the two boys says their children “began to feel sick and strange with symptoms including: difficulty walking, difficulty focusing and overall feeling like something was happening to their bodies they did not understand.”

The lawsuit, filed by Burg Simpson law firm, accuses the teacher of battery, negligence and outrageous conduct.
