Denver weather: Possible rain Friday ahead of hot Father’s Day weekend

One more day of possible rain showers in the afternoon around Denver before a weekend warm up just in time for Father’s Day Sunday.
Denver residents can expect a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. Expect increasing clouds, with a high near 90 and light and variable winds becoming southwest between 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon.
“Scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms are expected again Friday,” the NWS said. “Some strong to severe storms will be possible over the northeast plains Friday afternoon. For the weekend, the chance for storms is limited to the northeastern plain. Where a severe storm or two will be possible.”
Tonight it’ll be mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming clear, with a low around 58. South southwest wind 6 to 9 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.
Temperatures push into the 90s during the weekend as the chances of afternoon showers diminishes greatly for a few days.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 93. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 15 mph.
Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 93. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming east in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 18 mph.
Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 94.
Tuesday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 87.
