The climbable rhino sculpture being built in Denver’s RiNo neighborhood finally has a name.
Following a highly engaged public naming campaign with nearly 1,500 community submissions and votes, joint venture partners Golub & Company and Formativ made the announcement Thursday morning at Denargo Market.
The official name of the new 30-foot-tall, 22,000-pound climbable rhino sculpture is Rhingo.
The name was announced during a special unveiling event, which was held at the corner of 29th Street and Arkins Court in Denver’s RiNo Art District, with Denver City Councilman Darrell Watson and members of the development team.
A media statement said the names were selected by public vote from five community-submitted finalists and reflect the sculpture’s playful personality and star-worthy presence in the neighborhood.
“Before full buildout of the entire 17-acre site, we want people to feel like Denargo Market is a destination worth visiting,” Sean Campbell, CEO of Formativ, said. “The rhino is our first big step in prioritizing public elements for locals and visitors to interact with. Whether you’re climbing its sides, snapping a photo, or exploring our new parks and river activation, the rhino will welcome you to Denargo Market as a landmark that will be enjoyed for generations to come.”

Rhingo the Rhino is the first major public art installation at Denargo Market. It was envisioned by Sasaki in collaboration with Golub & Company and Formativ. Local fabricators JunoWorks and Eldorado Walls brought it to life with engineering by Craft Engineering Studio.
The 30-foot tall sculpture is said to be “bold in scale and playful in spirit,” and built from weatherized steel with all-weather climbable panels, custom paint, integrated lighting and other playful surrounding elements like birdhouses.
Rhingo is not yet open to the public for climbing. However, the sculpture will welcome visitors later this summer when more than four acres of public parks, plazas, and recreational spaces open at Denargo Market.
