Man pleads guilty to assault at ski resort after punching coach in altercation
Last January, 21-year-old Kaiden Bogda was arrested following an incident at Steamboat Resort that involved Bodga allegedly punching a ski coach in the head multiple times following a verbal confrontation related to where the coach was standing in proximity to a terrain feature.
Bodga was said to have followed the coach away from where the verbal confrontation took place, then grabbing the coach and striking him. One of the students with the coach was reportedly able to capture the alleged assault on camera.
Bodga was then said to have left the scene of the encounter, later taken into custody at a local auto shop. He was charged with third-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and failing to remain on the scene of a skier versus skier crash.
Several months later, local news source Steamboat Pilot and Today reports that Bogda entered a guilty plea for the third-degree assault charge, which is a class one misdemeanor, with the two other charges set to be dismissed. He has a sentencing hearing scheduled for July 11 and could face up to four years of probation and up to 60 days in jail. Covering restitution costs and participating in community service may also be penalties related to the crime. Bodga has also been banned from Steamboat Resort and Howelsen Hill Ski Area for the entirety of his probation, however long that may be. A protection order is also set to keep him away from the victim, as well.
