Jefferson County fundraiser featuring Eric Trump sells out after move to ‘undisclosed location’

A local conservative nonprofit’s fundraising dinner featuring presidential scion Eric Trump as keynote speaker somewhere in the Denver metro area on Saturday night has sold out, organizers told Colorado Politics, but they aren’t saying where it’s taking place.

Dubbed the Mountain Majesty Gala, the formal function is set to happen at a hotel on the west side of town, said Heidi Ganahl, the 2022 Republican gubernatorial nominee and founder and CEO of Rocky Mountain Voice, an online media outlet and the event’s sponsor. But that’s as much as she’ll reveal after announcing last week that the dinner was moving to an “undisclosed location,” in hopes of throwing off protesters.

Billed as a chance to as “bring together influential conservatives, grassroots leaders, media voices, and political power players for one bold mission: to take back Colorado,” the dinner cost from $200 for an individual plate up to $2,500 for VIP donors, who get to attend an exclusive reception and pose for a photo with the headliner.

Eric Trump, 41, is President Donald Trump’s second-oldest son. He’s the executive vice president of the family business, the Trump Organization, which he runs with his older brother Donald Jr.

Ganahl said in a text message to Colorado Politics on Thursday that the dinner’s sold-out status “sends a powerful message.”

“People are hungry for truth and a new path forward in Colorado, which is why I think we had such an overwhelmingly positive response to the event,” she added. “We’re building something bigger than just this one night. We’re building a movement, and we’re just getting started.”

Ganahl, who lost the race for governor to Democrat Jared Polis by a wide margin, was the last Republican to win statewide office in Colorado, when she was elected to an at-large seat on the University of Colorado Board of Regents in 2016. She launched Rocky Mountain Voice in January 2024 “to ensure that the citizens of the Centennial state can be well informed and effectively engaged, and that ‘the other side of the story’ is told.”

The online news platform is part of what she described as a bid to build “the most strategic and energized conservative movement this state has seen in decades.” In addition to original reporting and commentary, the site aggregates stories from other outlets, including Colorado Politics.

Protesters have been trying to figure out where the event will be held, according to posts on Reddit. Some, however, said they still intend to show up near the gala’s original location, the Denver Marriott West in Golden, where local Indivisible groups plan to demonstrate opposition to Eric Trump’s visit. One rally is titled “No Princes Day,” in a nod to the previous weekend’s nationwide “No Kings” rallies that drew millions to protests Donald Trump’s administration. Another is meant to convey the message that “Eric Trump is Not Welcome,” organizers said.

A year ago, the Jefferson County Republican Party canceled its annual fundraising dinner at the same hotel on short notice, citing security concerns after protesters announced plans to greet featured speaker Kristi Noem, who was then governor of South Dakota, amid a furor over excerpts of her memoir that described shooting and killing an unruly puppy. Noem was named by Donald Trump earlier this year to head the Department of Homeland Security.

In March, the Colorado GOP moved its Centennial Dinner at least twice in the face of protests aimed at headliner Steve Bannon, a former top Trump advisor. Initially planned for a hotel in the Denver Tech Center, the party moved the dinner to a hotel in downtown Colorado Springs before finally landing at a country music venue in the same city.
