The NWS has issued a heat advisory from 11 a.m., Friday to 6 p.m., Saturday for much of north-central Colorado east of the Front Range foothills, the I-25 urban corridor from Castle Rock to the Wyoming state line and the northeastern Plains.

Cooling Centers open:

Denver Parks and Recreation will offer space in each of its rec centers that the public can access during normal business hours to cool off. The designated spaces will be staffed and have access to drinking water, restrooms and places to sit.

Denver Public Library locations are also available to use as indoor spaces to escape the heat.

It’s recommended that Coloradans under the Heat Advisory avoid strenuous outdoor activities, drink plenty of fluids, seek shade or air conditioning, and check on neighbors and the elderly.

Tonight won’t cool off much and it’ll be mostly clear, with a low around 65. Expect breezy conditions, with a southwest wind between 9 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Saturday will be similar to Friday, with temperatures in the upper 90s to low 100s. Sunday will cool slightly, but still remain hot.

A big shift begins Monday as rain showers return to the forecast. Temperatures will return to seasonal too, with highs in the upper 70s around the metro area.

Here’s the 4-day forecast from the National Weather Service.

Saturday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 99. South southwest wind 9 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 94. South southwest wind 8 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph.
