Four in Highlands Ranch arrested for coordinated retail theft of nearly $15k

Four suspects were arrested last week in connection with a coordinated retail theft of nearly $15,000 worth of merchandise from grocery stores, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

On Wednesday, June 18th, DSCO deputies responded to a reported theft in progress at a King Soopers located in the 8600 block of South Quebec Street in Highlands Ranch.

Deputies identified four female suspects, two adults and two juveniles, who were connected to a felony-level theft that previously occurred at a different King Soopers in Centennial.

When they arrived, deputies detained the driver of a minivan in the parking lot that they believe to have been acting as a lookout. The three additional female suspects were found inside the Highlands Ranch store.

The driver, identified as identified as 37-year-old Gabi Maria Lautaru, alerted the suspects inside the store, prompting them to abandon the stolen merchandise, which consisted of primarily makeup.

Deputies recovered $9,600 worth of merchandise from the store and found an additional $5,000 in stolen makeup inside the vehicle, believed to be from the earlier theft in Centennial.

Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office deputies were asked to respond to the second location to assist DSCO deputies following the suspects’ arrest according to the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office.

The two adult suspects were booked into jail. Both juveniles are in custody at the Foote Youth Services Center. The suspects are facing charges of theft, conspiracy, and concealment of goods.

Lautaru is also facing a charge of contributing to the delinquency of minor.

 The investigation remains ongoing.
