Two arrests were made after an investigation into an Aurora homicide that occurred May 21, the Aurora Police Department Major Crime Homicide Unit announced Friday.

Police arrested the first suspect, a 17-year-old Aurora male, on Tuesday.

The suspect, who is not being identified because he is a minor, was arrested on felony charges of second-degree murder and aggravated robbery.

Police arrested the second suspect in the case, 19-year-old Yoel Uriel Romero of Aurora, on Friday.

Romero is also facing charges of second-degree murder and aggravated robbery.

Formal charges against the two suspects will be filed by the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, according to police.

The charges stem from the May 21 incident, when at around 7:15 p.m. Aurora police responded to a report of a shooting in the 3100 block of Ursula Street.

When officers arrived, two male victims on the scene had sustained gunshot wounds.

One victim, a 17-year-old from Denver, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to recover.

However, an 18-year-old Wheat Ridge man sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to a local hospital where he later died.

The Adams County Coroner’s Office has since identified him as Ernesto Jae Sandoval.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at (720) 913-7867. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
