Denver Police seeking information about I-25 hit-and-run Saturday morning

Denver police are seeking public help to identify a driver and vehicle in a fatal hit-and-run crash that took place in Denver Saturday morning.

At 7:02 a.m., just north of the West Alameda Avenue exit on Interstate 25 southbound, an unknown driver and vehicle in the right-hand lane hit a person changing their tire on the right shoulder, fatally injuring them, according to a news release from Metro Denver Crime Stoppers.

The car was described as a black Toyota 4Runner that sustained significant damage to its front passenger side, according to the release. The driver fled the scene of the crash without stopping or leaving contact information.

Police first announced the interstate’s closure in the southbound direction due to the incident on social media at 7:41 a.m. Saturday morning. The roadway was reopened to traffic a few hours after.
