Denver weather: Slight chance of rain Tuesday ahead of potential record heat

Rain and thunderstorms are possible Tuesday around metro Denver, but don’t count on it much as a ridge of high pressure builds over the Four Corners region bringing potential record heat with it.
Denver residents can expect a slight chance of showers between 2 and 3 p.m., then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.
It’ll be sunny, with a high near 94. South southwest winds between 5 to 10 mph become northeast in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Tonight it’ll be mostly clear, with a low around 64. South wind 8 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 17 mph.
Wednesday will be the hottest day of the week, with highs nearing 100 degrees in south locations around metro Denver.
A heat advisory goes into effect at 10 a.m., Wednesday and lasts until 9 p.m., Wednesday. The advisory is in place for areas around Fort Collins, Boulder, Denver and the west suburbs.
The ridge of high pressure wanes on Thursday but shower activity will still be limited. The best chance for precipitation will be on Friday as cooler temperatures and better chances of rain activity are forecast.

Wednesday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 98. Light and variable wind becoming east southeast 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 16 mph.
Thursday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 94. Southwest wind 8 to 14 mph becoming north in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 23 mph.
Friday: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 87.
Saturday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 85.
