Goose on patrol: Feathered troublemaker takes over Colorado State Patrol Academy

CSP Goose

It’s not unusual for Colorado State Patrol troopers to encounter danger on the job, but recently, the biggest menace at the State Patrol Academy in Golden doesn’t drive a car or break the law.

She honks. And she hisses. And she poops. Meet Lucy the Goose — short for “Lucifer,” if you ask Trooper Sherri Mendez.

“She’s always coming around, causing chaos, hissing at us, pooping on our cars, sitting on our cars,” Mendez said. “She’s a hot mess.”

The aggressive Canada goose first appeared on the academy grounds in December. Since then, she’s taken full control of the facility’s parking lot, including patrol vehicles.
